Mission statement

Breeding Cane Corso's

To create a lasting impression

In 1998, I was introduced to this breed for the very first time and immediately fell in love. This love is what motivates me to put in the amount of time, energy and hard work required for training, showing and raising excellent Cane Corso puppies and adults. At Echelon 1, we incorporate our dogs into our lives at every step – whether it’s a family trip, hanging out in the backyard, enjoying a football game or relaxing at home. This is not a business, this is a lifestyle, and our dogs are our life here.

Echelon 1 Cane Corso is dedicated to upholding the integrity of the breed. We cherish our dogs as family companions and pride ourselves on breeding healthy, well-adjusted dogs that can live easily with their families. Social with friends, the Cane Corso will defend against intruders and care and early training must be taken to properly raise your puppy. We do not breed very often, but when we do, our litters are carefully planned in an effort to produce puppies of excellent temperament, structure and health.

Beautiful dogs sound in mind and body do not happen by accident. A great deal of consideration goes into every litter we produce. We strive to be lifelong students of the Cane Corso breed. We take care in learning about our own dogs’ individual ancestors as well as the breed’s history as a whole. No expense is spared and we utilize full health testing (OFA, CERF, etc.) on all of our dogs. The main goal of any good breeding program is not for the production of puppies, but rather the preservation of the breed in its best possible form.

                                                                    About the Breed

Ancient Italian breed medium-large size Molossus Dog. Sturdy, with a strong skeleton. Muscular and athletic, it moves with considerable ease and elegance. It has always been a property watchdog and hunter of difficult game such as the wild boar. – American Kennel Club breed standard.

The Cane Corso is an Italian “mastiff type” dog. The breed is a descendant of the Roman Canis Pugnaces, a legendary war dog. Over the centuries, this noble animal has served as a versatile farmhand and game hunter. He has protected and guarded his human companions with his strong and athletic build, vigorous temper and adaptability to any challenge. He is intelligent and easily trained.  His presence is impressive, with a noble, majestic and powerful appearance. He is docile and affectionate to his owner, loving with children and family.

With a fascinating ancient history and bright future as versatile family companions, these dogs can be trained to care for and protect you and your loved ones. Cane Corso are truly friendly and loving animals, yet they possess impressive physical strength. Their regal appearance and majestic presence is ever increasing in popularity.

With our primary breeding goal to preserve the Cane Corso in its ideal form and function, we do not always have puppies available. However, when we do breed a litter, they truly are in the “upper echelon” of the breed. Our dogs average between 115-135lbs for males and 95-105lbs for females.

This breed is recommended for experienced dog owners and we choose families for our puppies with the time and dedication to properly train and socialize them. While the Cane Corso is a large and powerful dog, it can be bred and trained to be a friendly member of the family. At Echelon 1 Cane Corso, the importance of obedience is as stressed as the importance of social skills. As aforementioned, healthy beautifully bred Cane Corsos do not happen by accident. A great deal of training and consideration goes into each dog that we breed.
